As we continue through this exciting period of improvements, we are sorry to announce that the Mineral Springs Resort is entering a temporary closure. While renovations are still underway, we are sorry we won’t be able to welcome you during this time. We are excited to welcome guests once our projects are complete and gradually bring our resort spaces and services back to life.
We truly appreciate your patience, understanding, and support as we work behind the scenes to create an even better experience for our guests.
Transparency, communication, and keeping our guests informed are important values to us. We currently anticipate that our renovation work will begin in 2026, with the goal of completing the project in 2027. As with any renovation project, timelines can evolve, and should our anticipated schedule change, we will make every effort to communicate those updates as promptly and clearly as possible.

Natural Healing Springs
The Mineral Springs Resort is proud to be Canada’s only seaside mineral springs resort, named by Indigenous settlers who first visited Salt Spring Island. In late 1970’s, while drilling for water, a spring was found, pumping at 20 gallons a minute, in a well 150 feet below the ocean floor. What at first was believed to be sea water, actually contained less than 10% of the salt found in the ocean. 21 minerals and trace elements were found after testing and today the water’s contents remain the same.
The mineral waters are high in magnesium, calcium, sodium and potassium. The unique alkaline composition helps to increase the permeability of the skin so that minerals can penetrate more easily the the underlying blood and lymphatic systems. The chlorides make the body more buoyant, helping lift spirits and ease joint fatigue. Guests rave about the water relieving dry skin and leaving it silky fresh, invigorated and toned. Some conditions which have shown to benefit from the water are arthritis, fibromyalgia, bursitis, muscle tension, tendonitis, and skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema, among many others. Of the 14 minerals known to be essential to our body’s health, 12 are in our mineral springs at concentrations which meet the daily allowances by simply taking a bath. Another 9 minerals and elements commonly used in medical treatment for a variety of disorders are also present in therapeutic quantities.
Natural Mineral Water
One of the unique features of our resort is our naturally mineral-rich spring water, which supplies the soaking tubs and plumbing throughout the property. As the minerals naturally settle over time, you may notice some mineral sediment in the toilet bowl, even after it has been thoroughly cleaned. Please be assured that every chalet is carefully cleaned and sanitized prior to each guest’s arrival. Any visible sediment is simply a natural result of the mineral content in the water and does not reflect the cleanliness of your chalet.
Mineral Water’s Natural Odour
Because our spring water contains naturally occurring minerals and sulfur compounds, you may notice a distinct mineral or sulfur-like odour, sometimes described as a “rotten egg” smell. While the odour may be unfamiliar or unpleasant, it is a natural characteristic of the spring water and can vary depending on the water’s mineral composition.
Please do not drink or consume the water from the taps or soaking tubs. Our property is currently under a Water Boil Advisory. Please refer to the Water Boil Advisory in our main menu for more important information and instructions.
